St. John Knits
In February 2017 Karsten was provided the opportunity to partner with PWI Construction on the St. John Knits project located in the Galleria. The design intent was to produce a gorgeous new shopping space within the Saks Fifth Avenue wing of the mall. St. John Knits is an upscale women’s clothing boutique catering to women on a wide range from charity events or updating the work-wear wardrobe. The scope of work Karsten was awarded included drywall, acoustical ceiling/wall paneling, and paint. Under the tight 3 month schedule placed on the project, during normal mall operations, the new space build-out began with exterior framing including an abundance of windows and extensive blocking. Lighting proved to be the most challenging component of the scope, but was beautifully executed as the ceiling was the focal point of the intricate design. The last phase was the aesthetic effect, when stone from England was imported and hung on the exterior; with an 1/8 stainless steel outline (while wall-covering, complete with real silver, was installed on the interior). Through team work and coordination between PWI and Karsten it allowed for a successful and extravagant project.
